Huntley is an independent preparatory school catering for boys and girls in years three to eight. It is located at Marton, within 30 minutes' drive to Palmerston North and Wanganui. It was established in 1896 and is New Zealand’s oldest and largest preparatory boarding school. At Huntley every student is given the opportunity to reach their potential academically, physically, socially, culturally and spiritually.
Through immersion in our boarding environment students maximise their time at Huntley and reap the full benefit of the opportunities we offer
Participation is key and all students are expected to play some form of summer and winter sport. Academic Scholarships will be awarded to students with extraordinary academic skill and potential as demonstrated by previous school reports and an examination focused on English and Maths. To represent the interests of both Parents and Pupils to the Board of Trustees, Staff or any authority on questions relating to the welfare of the School. During the year students are also expected to take segment in the Huntley triathlon, Swimming Sports, Irritable Country, Winter Sport Squad Tournaments and Athletic Sports.

Scholarship value 2500 per year from date the scholarship is awarded, subject to an annual last of year review of the child’s academic effort and adherence to Huntley values. Each year a lofty percentage of students make the accelerated classes at Fielding Lofty School, PNBHS, Na Tara and Wanganui Collegiate. During his time at Huntley he has been energetic in all areas of the school academic, sporting, cultural and boarding. Sports scholarships will be awarded to students demonstrating extraordinary skills, commitment and potential to excel in one of the major sporting codes played at Huntley. We employ teachers for specialist subjects such as science and music and our year 7 and 8 academic streaming programmed ensures each kid receives the support or extension they require. He is in charge of the Orchard, coaches the Ladder Tennis in the summer and 2nd XV Rugby team in the winter.
